Cover Seals
Every ECU modified by RP Lab, to support Map Editor, will have its cover screws sealed. Those seals should not be broken by customers or any other parties. Seals are present to ensure that the ECU has not been tampered with after we have performed the modification, and also to protect our intellectual property rights.
Thus, we reserve right to ask customers for new ECU photos at any point of time. Note that old photos will not do, as we will ask you to make the photo unique, which will be a proof that the photo was actually made on our request. We are keeping detailed records of every unit we have modified or sold so far.
If the seals are broken, or not authentic, we reserve the right to terminate any service and support our customer is normally granted. Those include but are not limited to:
1) Repairs: no repairs (free or charged) will be done by us. In case we receive such a unit, we will return it to the original sender. Prior to that, the sender will be charged for fixed handling fees (at the moment of writing, 50.00 Euro) plus shipping costs depending on shipping service used.
2) Software license: No software license will be issued.
3) Upgrades: No ECU and/or software upgrades (free or charged) will be performed. If you send us the ECU, we will apply the same procedure as if it was sent for repair (handling fee + shipping will be charged).
4) Support: No technical support will be given.
5) Technical documentation: No technical documentation will be supplied.
6) Refunds: No refunds will be given, no matter under which circumstances.
7) Dealers: If an ECU with the broken seals is sold through any of our distributors, all rights to distribute our products are waived immediately. In addition, legal actions will be taken.
There will be no exceptions to the statements listed above. Thus, it is important to recognize the importance of keeping the seals intact.
IMPORTANT: If you are offered to buy a second hand control unit, please first get in touch with us prior to making the purchase, in order to verify that the seals are authentic. If they are not, it is most likely that you will not be able to use the ECU at all.
