This tool provides users the ability to read, alter and store data in calibration portion of Weber Marelli IAW series 04 ECU memory. It consists of a PC software, a custom ECU firmware, an ECU hardware modification (by installation of a special RP Lab developed daughterboard) and a serial interface cable.

As IAW series 4 hardware does not support calibration portion of memory to be modified via serial link, the ECU has to be sent to RP Lab for an upgrade. As an alternative, we could provide the ECU suitable for your car and apply the modification there. The ECU-s to be modified are at first thoroughly inspected by RP Lab (those items are usually more than 10 years old now), daughterboard installed, retested and sent to customer.

In the process, the original ECU program (firmware) is exchanged with our own. Our firmware supports many additional features that are not present in the original ECU firmware, while maintaining reliability and versatility. A list of some of the extra features is below:

  • - Hybrid Alpha-N control method for normally aspirated engines (alternative to stock Speed- Density configuration) - FREE of charge.
    - Progressive Anti lag system (bang-bang) - FREE of charge.
    - Progressive Launch control system - FREE of charge.
    - Support for distributorless ignition system (with 2 or 4 coils in wasted spark mode).
    - Up to two additional 0-5v analog inputs - one input is FREE of charge.
    - Additional programmable digital output (useful for water injection, etc.) - FREE of charge.
    - Closed loop fueling - FREE of charge.
    - Closed loop boost regulation - FREE of charge.
    - Software adjustable idle CO trim - FREE of charge.
    - Rev counter 5 volt drive signal - FREE of charge with distributorless ignition.

Depending on the ECU supplied for modification, some of the features listed above may require additional ECU mods to be performed by us (e.g. closed loop fueling on an ECU that does not have a lambda sensor input). 

The newest ECU software supports 16x16 fuel maps, 16x10 ignition maps on ALL ECU's (including ones that had smaller maps from factory). Take a look at sample screenshots in our download area.

Some of the ECU pins have been reassigned for purposes of extra inputs or outputs. A/C input pin has another purpose now, so if A/C idle up feature is absolutely needed, contact us first.

Aftersales technical support per email is free for one year, following the purchase. After this period, technical support is subject to annual prolongation fee. Premium (telephone and in-field) technical support is also available (contact us for details).

Please note that, after modification, ECU cover screws are sealed. Those seals should not be broken by customer or any other party. If you are offered to buy a second hand unit, please get in touch with us, in order to verify the seals are authentic. If they are not, it is most likely that you will not be able to use the ECU at all, as we will not give any support or software license in that case. This topic is also covered in our FAQ. IMPORTANT: Under NO circumstances should you send us an ECU (or any other piece of hardware, for that matter) for modification, repair or any other reason, without our PRIOR explicit consent. All the shipments, sent without our prior consent, will be returned at cost of initial sender (you), with NO exceptions. If payment is not cleared within 45 days from the day unit has been received, we will start charging stocking costs. We will stock unpaid units for 180 days from the arrival day, after that the unit will be disposed at customer's cost. Make sure that you check our terms of trade before purchase.

The prices depend on the type of ECU to be upgraded. Due to big number of different ECU types present, please contact us for a quote.
